Ujjayanta Palace is Agartala's landmark building, a white-domed palace built by Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya at the turn of the 20th century. Its formal gardens, pools, domes, and grand rooms still give the city a royal centre of gravity.
The palace later housed Tripura's Legislative Assembly and now contains the Tripura State Museum. That makes it the best first stop in the city: architecture outside, regional history inside.
