The best times to visit Pauri are October to November and March to June. In autumn, the post-monsoon air is crystal clear, the Himalayan views are at their sharpest, and the forests are a mix of green and gold. Spring brings rhododendrons in the oak forests and pleasant walking temperatures.
Winter (December to February) can be very cold, with occasional snowfall on the ridge and biting night temperatures. The roads stay open but conditions are harsh. The monsoon (July to September) brings heavy rain and reduced visibility; the mountain views disappear behind clouds and the roads can be difficult. Pauri is at low enough elevation that it doesn't close in winter the way higher Garhwal stations do, but there is little reason to visit in the monsoon.
