Kanpur Sangrahalaya occupies the old Edward VII Memorial Hall beside Phool Bagh. The museum is modest, but it is useful for placing Kanpur in context: the colonial city, the 1857 uprising, the growth of the textile mills, and the local political figures who shaped modern Uttar Pradesh.
Displays can be old-fashioned and labels are not always generous, so come for orientation rather than spectacle. If you are already at Phool Bagh, it is worth stepping inside before you head toward Nana Rao Park and the river.
