Moti Jheel is a lake and garden complex west of the old centre, originally developed as a water reservoir and later turned into a public recreation area. It is one of the easier places in Kanpur to escape traffic for an hour, with paths, lawns, and water views.
The park is most pleasant early in the morning or just before sunset. It is popular with couples and families, and while it is not a grand sight, it gives a useful glimpse of how residents use the city when they are not working.
