Meerut is connected to Delhi by a rapid transit rail link, the Delhi–Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), which opened its first section in 2023 and cuts the journey time between the two cities to under an hour. The RRTS terminates at Meerut South and Meerut City stations; from either station local autos and e-rickshaws connect to the city centre and major sights.
By road, Meerut sits on NH-58 and NH-235, about 70 km from central Delhi — a journey of 90 minutes to two hours depending on traffic, which on the Delhi side can be severe. Frequent buses run from Delhi's Anand Vihar ISBT and Kashmere Gate terminals. The city's own bus station (Meerut Bus Stand) connects to Agra, Lucknow, and Haridwar. There is no commercial airport in Meerut; the nearest is Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
