The Solar Dome is a futuristic science museum in New Town, built around the theme of solar energy and renewable power. Inside are guided exhibits on everyday solar use, climate change, marine life, and space-age ideas such as floating cities and Mars colonies. The dome itself is part of the point: it generates solar power for the area and gives Kolkata a rare piece of playful science architecture.
