Upasana Griha

Glass-walled prayer hall on the Visva-Bharati campus, central to Santiniketan's spiritual landscape.

Upasana Griha, the prayer hall, is one of Santiniketan's most recognisable buildings. Its coloured glass, simple form, and quiet setting fit the town's Brahmo and Tagorean ideals better than a grand temple would.

It is usually visited as part of the regulated campus route. Even from outside, it helps explain why Santiniketan is a landscape of ideas as much as a collection of sights.
