Murni's Warung opened in 1974 and is one of the oldest continuously operating restaurants in Ubud. It perches directly above the Campuhan river gorge near the western bridge, on multiple levels that descend into the ravine, with the river audible below and the forested slopes rising opposite. The menu covers Indonesian and Balinese dishes alongside Western options, and the quality is consistently good — this is a place that survives not on novelty but on execution.
The setting is the main reason to come. A table on the lower levels, tucked into the cliff above the river, is one of the more atmospheric places to eat in Ubud — peaceful, green, and completely unlike the busy main street 50 metres away. Murni herself, who built the restaurant, has been a figure in Ubud's tourism story for five decades.
