Kedung Tumpang Beach

Rocky south-coast beach known for tide pools carved into the limestone.

Kedung Tumpang is the most distinctive beach in the Tulungagung area. Rather than a simple strip of sand, it is a rough limestone shore with natural pools cut into the rock. At the right tide the pools turn the coast into a strange swimming-and-photography stop.

The sea here is serious, so do not treat it like a calm resort beach. Come for the rock pools, coastal views, and the sense of being on Java's wilder southern edge.
