Pulau Ai's beach is a modest strip of white sand rather than a resort scene, with reef close to shore and village life nearby. When the sea is calm, this is one of the easiest places in the Bandas to slip into clear water without arranging a boat.
Bring what you need and ask locally about conditions. Currents and coral can change a simple swim into something more demanding.
