Hormuz's main attraction is the island itself: the extraordinary coloured soils, the Portuguese fort, and the strange, almost alien landscape. Most visitors come as a day trip from Bandar Abbas, which is enough for the main sights, but the island rewards a night if you want to catch the light at dusk on the coloured cliffs and explore more slowly. There are no conventional tourist facilities — bring what you need.
