The Mashhad Metro has two lines that cross at Shohada Station, on the edge of the shrine complex itself — the easiest way to reach the holy precinct from anywhere in the city. A third line is under construction.
Taxis are cheap and abundant; the local apps Snapp and Tapsi are the easiest way to use them and avoid haggling. For day trips to Torghabeh, Shandiz, Tus, and the foothills, hire a taxi for the day; rates are reasonable and the drivers are used to the routine.
