Elijah's Cave

A small grotto on the lower slope of Mount Carmel, traditionally venerated as the place where the prophet Elijah sheltered before his confrontation with the priests of Baal. The site is sacred to Jews, Christians, Muslims, and Druze, and you may see all four communities praying here on different days.

The cave itself is a single chamber, less impressive than the layered history it carries. Modest dress required. Separate sections for men and women in the Jewish prayer area.
