The original Ottoman-era core of Haifa, near the port, much reduced by mid-20th-century demolitions but with a slowly returning vitality. A handful of stone buildings, the Al-Jarina mosque, and the El-Khoder church still mark out the old grid.
The area has become a focus of restoration and small galleries since the 2010s, and the recently opened HaNamal Street nightlife strip is the city's most lively dinner and bar destination.
