Shrine of the Báb

The gold-domed marble shrine at the centre of the Bahá'í Gardens, where the remains of the Báb — herald of the Bahá'í faith — were finally interred in 1909 after six decades on the move. The exterior is one of the most recognisable buildings in Israel; the interior is smaller and quieter than the dome suggests.

Entry is free, modest dress required, and the line at peak hours can be long. The shrine has its own ground-level gate on Hatzionut Avenue, separate from the gardens tour.
