Tikotin Museum of Japanese Art

A small museum on the upper Carmel with a focused permanent collection of Japanese prints, ceramics, and lacquer, supplemented by changing thematic exhibitions. The displays are well presented and the building, set among gardens on the ridge, is itself a pleasure.

Worth combining with a walk along the Louis Promenade for the view down to the bay. Closed Sundays.

A story
Felix Tikotin was a Dresden art dealer who escaped Nazi Germany with his Japanese print collection; the museum he founded with the city in 1959 is the only museum in the Middle East dedicated to Japanese art.
