Eretz Israel Museum

The Eretz Israel Museum sits in the Ramat Aviv neighbourhood north of central Tel Aviv and is the country's main regional museum of archaeology and material culture. The collection is organised in pavilions across a park — coins, ceramics, glass, ethnography — built around the Tell Qasile excavation, an active Philistine archaeological site from the twelfth century BC.

The combination of indoor pavilions and outdoor archaeology makes it a more varied visit than a single museum building usually is. The planetarium and the Mediterranean garden round out the half-day. Easy bus from central Tel Aviv; closed Sundays.
