Getting There

Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV) is twenty kilometres south-east of central Tel Aviv and is the main air gateway to Israel. The airport has a direct rail link into the city — Israel Railways runs trains roughly every twenty minutes from the airport station to Tel Aviv Savidor (HaShalom) in about fifteen minutes. A taxi is around eighty to a hundred shekels.

The direct fast train from the airport to Jerusalem also passes through Tel Aviv, making the two cities tightly connected. There are no land border crossings open from Lebanon, Syria or Egypt by tourist routes; the Jordan crossings (Sheikh Hussein in the north, Allenby near Jerusalem, Yitzhak Rabin near Eilat) are open but require advance planning.

Within Tel Aviv there are three main stations: Tel Aviv Center (Savidor) is the busiest and the most central, HaShalom serves the Sarona and Azrieli district, and HaHagana is at the southern edge near the central bus station.
