Kaga sits on the main Hokuriku rail line between Kanazawa and Fukui. The fastest connections are by limited express train from Kanazawa to Kagaonsen Station (about 25 minutes) or from Fukui (about 30 minutes). Daishoji Station, in the old town, is served by local trains. Both stations have free shuttle buses to the three onsen towns.
By car, Kaga is on the Hokuriku Expressway with exits at Kaga and Katayamazu interchanges. Komatsu Airport, served by domestic flights from Tokyo, Sapporo and Naha, is twenty minutes north and has rental car desks in the terminal.
