Aichi Arts Centre

The Aichi Arts Centre is a monolithic concert hall and museum building at the southern end of Hisaya-odori Park in Sakae. The complex contains a 2,500-seat main hall (one of Japan's largest), the Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art (10th floor, strong on 20th-century Japanese and German Expressionism), and the Aichi Prefectural Theatre. The building also serves as the central venue for the Aichi Triennale international contemporary art festival, held every three years.

The roof terrace and the upper-floor windows give a panoramic view down Hisaya-odori. Even if you have no interest in the programmed events, the lobby is worth stepping into for the scale and the Tadao Ando concrete detailing.
