Miho no Matsubara is the classic Shizuoka image: black sand, long pine groves, Suruga Bay, and Mount Fuji rising across the water when the sky is clear. The scene was praised in art and poetry long before modern tourism, and it is now one of the component parts of the Mount Fuji World Heritage site.
The view is weather-dependent, so do not save it for a hazy afternoon if the morning is clear. Even without Fuji, the pine grove and shore make a strong coastal walk.
