Nihondaira

Nihondaira is the hilltop viewpoint above Shizuoka, looking over tea fields, Suruga Bay, the Izu Peninsula, and Mount Fuji on clear days. It is one of those Japanese scenic spots where the weather decides everything, but when the air is clean the view is superb.

Use it as part of the Kunozan route rather than as a stand-alone stop. The ropeway down to the shrine gives the outing a clean shape: view first, history second, sea below.
