Fudoki-no-Oka is an archaeological park south of central Matsue, focused on ancient burial mounds and objects from the Kofun period. It is a quieter stop than Matsue Castle or the lakeside museums, but worthwhile if you are interested in early Japanese history and want to see how the region looked before the castle town.
