The Amanohashidate Cable Car — technically a funicular — climbs the hill at the northern end of the bay to Kasamatsu Park, the classic viewpoint for matanozoki. The ride takes about four minutes and runs year-round. A chairlift runs parallel to the cable car and operates seasonally.
At the top, Kasamatsu Park has a platform with telescopes and plenty of space for the essential ritual of bending over to look at the sandbar upside down. The view is genuinely arresting — the pine-covered spit appears to float between the bay and the sky. There is also a small shrine and a café at the summit.
