The Miyazu Bay area is known for its seafood, and in particular for winter crab. The Tango Peninsula is one of the primary sources of matsuba crab (the local name for snow crab from this coast), and the crab season from November to March brings visitors from across Japan specifically to eat here. Outside crab season, grilled fish, oysters, and Kyoto-style cuisine dominate the menus around the station area.
