Tango-Amanohashidate-Oeyama Quasi-National Park

The Tango-Amanohashidate-Oeyama Quasi-National Park encompasses the sandbar, the bay, the Tango Peninsula coastline, and the Oeyama mountains to the northeast. The park designation protects the landscape that makes the view possible — without the pine trees, the bay's clarity, and the mountain backdrop, the scene would be far less remarkable.

Within the park, the Tango Peninsula's rugged coastline offers walking trails, sea caves, and sea stack formations that see far fewer visitors than the sandbar itself. If you have a day to spare after experiencing Amanohashidate, hiring a car or bicycle and exploring the peninsula is well worthwhile. The cape at Kyogamisaki has a particularly fine lighthouse and dramatic cliff views.
