HEP Five is a fashion and entertainment building in the heart of Umeda, instantly recognisable from the bright red Ferris wheel that turns above its roof. The lower floors are packed with young-fashion boutiques, the kind of bustling, music-filled retail that defines this part of the city, and there is a games arcade and food on the upper levels.
The Ferris wheel is the draw for most visitors: boarding from the seventh floor, it rises to about 106 metres and gives a fifteen-minute loop over the Umeda skyline, best at dusk when the towers light up. It is a quick, cheap, and slightly retro way to get a view of northern Osaka.
