Utsubo Park

A long, narrow park in the Nishi-ku business district west of central Osaka, popular with office workers and residents from the surrounding apartment buildings. The park is primarily known for its tennis courts — the largest cluster of public tennis courts in Osaka — and for its rose garden, which blooms in May and October. The park runs between two elevated expressway sections and the contrast of green lawns below the concrete infrastructure is very Osaka.

Utsubo's combination of sports facilities, playgrounds, an open-air gym, and a dog run makes it a working park rather than a tourist destination. Good for a morning run in a part of the city that most visitors never see. The American Consulate General occupies a building on the park's eastern border.
