Tokyo's principal kabuki theatre, rebuilt in 2013 but faithfully reproducing the ornate Momoyama-style facade of the original. Full performances run four to five hours, but single-act tickets (hitomakumi) are sold on the day for around 1,000 yen — a good way to experience kabuki without the full commitment. The basement gallery has costumes and props on display.
