Fukuoka has two subway lines that cover the main tourist areas efficiently. The Kūkō Line runs from Fukuoka Airport through Hakata Station and Tenjin to the western suburbs; the Nanakuma Line connects Tenjin to the southern districts. The fare system is simple and the trains are frequent. Buses supplement the subway and cover areas not on the rail network, including Ohori Park (easily walkable from Tenjin) and the Momochi seafront (a 10-minute bus from Tenjin or a 15-minute walk from Ohori Park).
The city centre between Hakata Station and Tenjin is about 1.5 kilometres — an easy walk through the covered shopping arcades. Taxis are metered and plentiful. Rental bicycles are available through several docomo Bike Share stations around the city. The yatai evening street stall culture concentrates around the Nakasu River and Tenjin area, accessible on foot from either Hakata or Tenjin subway stations.
