Xavier Park commemorates St. Francis Xavier's stay in Kagoshima and the early history of Christianity in Japan. The small central park has statues of Xavier and his Japanese disciples Anjiro and Bernardo, along with the remains of a church built in Xavier's honour and destroyed during World War II.
