Twenty-Four Eyes Movie Village

Preserved seaside film set tied to Shodoshima's best-known schoolroom story.

Twenty-Four Eyes Movie Village preserves the wooden schoolhouse and village sets used for the film adaptation of Sakae Tsuboi's novel about a teacher and her twelve pupils. Even if you do not know the story, the sea-facing classrooms and old storefronts have atmosphere.

The site works best as a gentle cultural stop rather than a theme park. It gives Shodoshima a literary and film layer to go with the island's beaches, food, and scenery.
