Kokubuncho is Sendai's main entertainment strip — a few blocks of bars, clubs, and izakayas between the station and Jozenji-dori. It's busy on weekend nights and has something for every budget, from standing bars with 300-yen drinks to small jazz clubs that have been running since the 1970s. Jozenji-dori itself has several good cafes in the tree-lined stretch near the Mediatheque.
