Iraq al-Amir is 30 kilometres west of Amman, reached by driving through Wadi Seer. From Amman, take a service taxi or bus from the 7th Circle area towards Wadi Seer and then Iraq al-Amir. A private taxi from central Amman takes about 45 minutes and costs a moderate fixed rate; agree a price beforehand. Most visitors hire a taxi for the half-day, asking the driver to wait while they visit the site.
There is no scheduled public transport direct to the site. The road winds steeply down into the valley — the descent is scenic but requires care in a small car.
