Rum village sits at the end of a 35-kilometre road that branches east off the Desert Highway (Highway 15) between Aqaba and Amman. The turn-off is well signposted.
From Aqaba, the drive takes about an hour. Most Aqaba hotels can arrange a taxi or transfer. From Amman, it is roughly four hours by car; the JETT bus service runs to Aqaba with a stop near the Wadi Rum junction, but you will still need onward transport to the village.
Minibuses run sporadically from Aqaba and from the highway junction, but schedules are unreliable. If you are on a budget, hitch-hiking from the junction is common and generally safe — plenty of tour vehicles make the trip.
Your camp or tour operator will often arrange pickup from the visitor centre or even from Aqaba. Confirm this when booking. The visitor centre is where you pay the reserve entrance fee (included if you have a Jordan Pass), and most guides meet their groups here.
