A small museum dedicated to traditional Kyrgyz craft — felt rugs (shyrdaks and ala-kiyiz), embroidery, leatherwork, silver jewellery, lace-thin felt yurt linings. The collection is modest in size but rich in quality, and the display includes pieces from the 19th century onwards.
For a traveller about to head into the countryside where these things are still made, the hour spent here is genuinely useful in learning to recognise the regional styles and patterns. The museum shop sells smaller items at fair prices.
