Getting Around

Bus and Marshrutka

Buses and marshrutkas (minibuses) cover the city on fixed routes. They are cheap (around 10-15 KGS) and frequent, though crowded during rush hour. Routes change occasionally, so ask locals or check maps apps for current routes.

Taxi

The easiest way to get around is by taxi. Yandex Go works well in Bishkek and gives you a fixed price before you ride. Otherwise, almost any car can be flagged down as an informal taxi -- agree on a price before getting in, and have your destination written in Cyrillic if possible. A ride across the city center rarely costs more than 150-200 KGS.

On Foot

The city center is flat and walkable. The grid layout makes navigation straightforward, and the tree-lined boulevards are pleasant in summer. Most things a visitor needs -- restaurants, travel agencies, the main bazaar -- are within a reasonable walking distance of each other in the central area.
