Paddy Museum

Rice-culture museum with a large 360-degree mural of Kedah paddy life.

Paddy Museum sounds dry, but it is one of Alor Setar's most distinctive stops. The exhibits explain rice planting, harvesting, and processing, while the building itself sits among the fields it describes.

The highlight is the panoramic mural on the upper level. It gives a theatrical version of Kedah's rice landscape, and it makes the museum worth the ride north from the centre.

A story
Kedah is often called Malaysia's rice bowl, and the museum leans into that identity completely. Its round top-floor mural turns the paddy cycle into a panorama, which is more memorable than the usual farm-tool display.
