Balai Nobat is a small tower, but it adds a very Kedah detail to the royal quarter. It houses the instruments of the nobat, the royal orchestra used for ceremonies such as installations, weddings, and funerals.
The tower is a quick stop rather than a destination. See it with Balai Besar and Zahir Mosque, where the cluster of buildings explains the state capital better than any one sight alone.
