Wat Nikrodharam is Alor Setar's most prominent Buddhist temple complex, set close to the city centre. Its gilded Thai-style roofs, colourful mosaic walls, and quieter courtyards make it a useful contrast to the royal and Islamic landmarks around Zahir Mosque.
The temple serves the local Chinese and Thai Buddhist communities, so visit respectfully and dress modestly. It works well as a short stop while walking between the tower, royal quarter, and market streets.
