Kuala Terengganu has a distinctive food culture anchored in fresh seafood and a handful of regional specialities. Nasi dagang — glutinous rice cooked in coconut milk and served with fish curry — is the classic Terengganu breakfast. Keropok lekor (fish crackers) are the city's most-exported food item and taste best eaten fresh from a stall near the market. Laksam — flat rice noodles in a thick coconut and fish gravy — is another dish that Terengganu does better than most places.
Night Market (Pasar Malam): Various locations around the city host a rotating night market. The stalls at Batu Buruk beach are the most conveniently located for visitors and run every evening, with grilled fish, satay, and a wide range of local kuih.
Warung Mak Teh: A well-known breakfast spot near the central market, serving nasi dagang and other traditional Terengganu rice dishes from early morning until they sell out. Arrive before 9am.
