Mesilau Park

Mesilau Park sits high on the slopes of Mount Kinabalu, reached by road from Kundasang. At about 2,000 metres it feels cooler and wetter than the valley, with orchids, pitcher plants, birds, and mountain views giving it a different character from the lower villages.

Short guided walks introduce the protected forest, while stronger hikers can use Mesilau as a starting point for steeper routes on the Kinabalu side. Go early if you are hoping for clearer views and more wildlife.
