Air Papan is a seaside village north of Mersing with a long, open beach and low hills behind it. The sand and water are not as polished as the offshore islands, but the place has an easy local feel and is close enough for a half-day by car or taxi.
It is best for a walk, a picnic, or a simple swim in calm conditions. Do not expect resort infrastructure; bring what you need and pay attention to weather and currents.
