1 Utama Shopping Centre

The biggest mall in PJ and one of the biggest in Malaysia, with over 700 stores spread across two linked buildings. The Old Wing has the more interesting independent shops; the New Wing has the international brands and the food court.

For travellers, the Rainforest atrium is the only piece of architecture worth a detour. For everyone else, this is where the city does its weekend shopping. Connected by free shuttle to The Curve and IKEA five minutes north.

When 1 Utama was extended in 2003, it briefly held the title of the fourth largest shopping centre in the world by floor area. It still has a forest in the middle — the Rainforest, a real five-storey patch of indoor jungle with around 500 species of plant — and a rock-climbing wall on the roof.
