Broga Hill

Short sunrise ridge hike with open grass slopes above Semenyih and Broga.

Broga Hill is the easy classic: a short climb from the plantation car park to a chain of grassy ridges looking back over Semenyih, Broga and the green folds of the Titiwangsa foothills. It is not wilderness, and on weekends it can feel like half of greater Kuala Lumpur had the same sunrise idea, but the view is good enough to forgive the crowds.

Go before dawn if you want the full local ritual. The climb is steep in places but brief, with exposed clay sections that can be slippery after rain. Bring water, wear shoes with grip, and do not expect much shade once you reach the open ridge.

A story
Broga Hill is oddly bare for a hill on the edge of tropical rainforest. The summit ridges are dominated by lalang grass rather than trees, probably helped by old fires and repeated foot traffic, which is exactly why the views feel so open.
