Sak Dato Temple

Colourful Broga hillside Taoist temple with zodiac statues, a suspension bridge, and Sun Wukong views.

Sak Dato Temple is the most rewarding cultural stop around Semenyih. It sits on the Broga side of the border, bright with statues, pavilions and temple courtyards, with a suspension bridge leading toward a hilltop Sun Wukong figure.

Come after Broga Hill, when the morning rush has eased. The temple is active, not just decorative, so dress and behave respectfully. The setting is part of the pleasure: forested slopes behind, village life below, and enough odd details in the statues and shrines to make a slow wander worthwhile.

A story
The temple is tied to the local Datuk Kong tradition, in which a local protective spirit is worshipped through Chinese temple practice. In Broga, that story is linked to Shi Man, remembered as Sak Dato, whose shrine became one of the area's main landmarks.
