Lumut is a small coastal town about 10km from Sitiawan and the embarkation point for Pangkor Island. The waterfront promenade runs along the strait between the mainland and the island, with views across to Pangkor's forested hills. Seafront cafes and restaurants make it a pleasant place to spend an afternoon before or after catching the ferry.
The Lumut Jetty is where all ferries and speedboats to Pangkor depart from. The crossing takes 20–45 minutes depending on the vessel, and boats run frequently during daylight hours. The town also has a Naval Base Museum (Museum Tentera Laut DiRaja Malaysia) documenting Malaysia's Royal Navy history — worth a quick visit if you have time before your ferry.
