Bulgan Mountain rises directly behind Tsetserleg, close enough to climb without turning the outing into an expedition. The hill gives the town its best view: monastery roofs below, the valley floor beyond, and the Khangai foothills rolling away in every direction.
It is most rewarding early or late in the day, when the light makes the town look less dusty and the surrounding steppe more spacious.
