The Lumbini complex itself is roughly 4 kilometres long and 1.5 kilometres wide. Most visitors hire a cycle rickshaw by the half-day; the going rate is modest. Bicycles can be rented from most hotels in the Tourism Village.
Walking the whole zone is possible but tiring in the Terai heat. The Sacred Garden is closed to vehicles — you walk in once you reach the south gate.
Around town, electric rickshaws run between the Tourism Village, the main gate, and the village of Lumbini Sanskritik to the east. Taxis for day trips to Tilaurakot are best arranged through your hotel.
