Pashupatinath is about 5 km east of central Kathmandu. Taxis from Thamel take around 20 minutes and cost 300–500 rupees. Micro-buses run from Ratna Park toward Chabahil, from where it is a short walk. The entrance fee for foreign visitors is around NPR 1,000 (roughly USD 7–8); Nepal nationals and SAARC country citizens pay considerably less. The complex is open from early morning until late evening, with the most atmospheric time being dawn, when pilgrims arrive for the first rituals of the day.
